MISSA EXPERIMENTS (2009)A series of paintings that I did at the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts. The threat to the natural environment from climate change, development and habitat loss is huge. I would love to bring this fact to the viewer's attention but without any kind of preachiness or pedantry. Therefore, I have been trying out new ways of rendering the landscape, ones that create some kind of "disturbance" in the imagery. This disconnect represents the breakage that is going on in our natural systems. This is an ongoing experiment. Field IOil on canvas 12 in. X 36 in. 2009 RIP: Gone to its reward as an underpainting for "Quince" (See FLOWERS)
